Kruja ...very old city!

While visiting in Albania I went to pay a closer look at the castle of Skenderbeg in the very old city of Kruja. I took pic which shown below and did some research to better explain what is all about.





It was build on abrupt rocks on the very place where the signals among Petrela , Preza, Rodon and Lezha crossed.
It was on epicentre since in the time of the Arber's State. Upon Skenderbeg's return, the castle of Kruja became the epicentre of the Albanian epope in the resistance against the Ottoman invasion. Its name and that of Skanderbeg became renowned throghout Europe at that time.

The origin of the castle traces back to the 5th-6th century B.C. Maybe this is linked with the abandonment of the Illyrian city of Albanopolis, which was mentiond by Ptolemy, as a city on the Alban's land. The castle laid it's foundations to the 3rd century B.C.
